Flashka lets you control language at three levels. Here’s the quick map and the exact places to tweak each one.

🌐 App (UI) language

This sets the interface (menus, buttons, dialogs).
Available: English, Español, Italiano.

Where to change

  • Settings → General → Language (not AI language) → choose a language.

Note: UI language does not change your flashcards or AI content.

🤖 AI language (Ka chat, explanations, tools)

This controls the language used by AI Helps (Explain, Example, Memo, Visualize) and Ka’s chat.

  • Available: any language.

  • Default: Auto Detect (Ka will reply in the language of your content or question).

Where to change

  • Profile menu → Settings → General → AI Language → choose a language or Auto Detect.
(See the “The language of the AI generated explanations and AI chat” dropdown.)

🧠 Study content language (flashcards & quizzes)

This is the language of the material you create or study. You can set it globally per deck or ad-hoc during generation/quiz setup.

A) Per-deck card language (front/back)

Useful for bilingual decks (e.g., EN→ES).

  • Open a deck → top-right … → Cards Language

  • Set Front card language and Back card language (or keep Auto Detect).

B) While generating flashcards

  • In the Generation settings modal (before “Generate Flashcards”) → Flashcard language → pick a language or Auto.

C) While creating quizzes

  • In Setup your Quiz → Language → choose a language or Auto Detect.

Recommended setups

  • Auto-detect:
Keep Auto Detect everywhere. Ka and generators will match your document.

  • Vocabulary / translation decks:
Deck Cards Language → set Front: Source language and Back: Target language.
Keep AI Language on Auto Detect so explanations follow your prompts.

FAQ

Does changing AI Language translate my cards?
No. It only affects Ka chat and AI Helps. Use Flashcard language (generation) or edit cards to change study content.

What’s the safest default?
Auto Detect for AI and content language, unless you’re deliberately building bilingual decks, then lock Cards Language per side.

Can I switch mid-deck?
Yes. You can adjust Cards Language at any time; existing cards keep their text, future cards follow the new setting.
