Spaced Repetition Settings

Tune how Flashka schedules cards. If all this feels heavy, pick General and move on. If you study medicine and grind large volumes daily, pick Med Student. Only choose Custom if you know what you want to change.
🏁 Where to find it
In any study session, click the small gear in the bottom bar.
Or click on the profile on top right and then click Spaced Repetition settings.
Presets
General
SM-2 with balanced defaults similar to Anki. Good for most users.Med Student
SM-2 tuned for high volume and fast turnover. Reviews come sooner, lapses get recovered quicker.Custom
Unlocks every field below so you can fine tune the scheduler.
Test the scheduler
Use the built-in scheduler tester. Press Impossible, Hard, OK, or Easy to see the next interval that would be scheduled with your current settings. This is the safest way to feel the impact of each tweak before you save.
⚙️ All settings explained
Learning steps
Short intervals for brand new cards before they “graduate.” Enter minutes or hours, separated as steps, for example: 1m, 10m.
More steps = more quick repeats on day one. Fewer steps = faster graduation.
Relearning steps
Short intervals used after a lapse. Works like Learning steps but only when you fail a mature card. Keep these short to rebuild memory fast.
Graduation interval
The first day-level interval a card gets after it finishes Learning steps. Example: 1 day. Lower values make cards return the next day; higher values push them farther.
Easy interval
If you rate a new card Easy while still in Learning, it skips the remaining steps and jumps straight to this day interval. Typical value: 4 days.
Starting ease
Initial E-Factor used by SM-2 for every new card. Classic default is 2.5. Higher values make future intervals grow faster.
Easy bonus
A multiplier applied when you press Easy on a review. Example: 1.3 means “take the computed next interval and multiply by 1.3.”
Minimum interval
The shortest day interval allowed for any scheduled review. Prevents the scheduler from giving you tiny day gaps after a lapse.
Critical Card Threshold
How many lapses turn a card “critical.” Hitting this threshold will make the card stick to more conservative scheduling so it stops bouncing.
Learning limit
A cap on how many new Learning cards can enter your queue. Set it high if you never want the app to limit you, or lower it to protect daily workload.
Buttons in the tester
Impossible
Simulates a miss. Card goes to Relearning steps and the ease may decrease.Hard
Review passes but with a short next interval and a small ease decrease.OK
Normal pass. Uses your SM-2 ease to grow the interval.Easy
Bigger jump to the next interval plus the Easy bonus.
Save or revert
Click Save Changes to apply the preset or your custom values. Click Reset inside Custom to go back to the preset defaults, or Cancel to discard changes.
Quick recommendations
Do not change everything at once. Use the tester after each tweak.
If you feel overwhelmed, use General.
If you are a medical student with heavy content and hard deadlines, use Med Student.
If cards come back too fast, increase Graduation interval and Easy interval, or raise Starting ease slightly.
If lapses pile up, add a short Relearning step and lower Minimum interval so the system pulls the card back sooner.
Studying still works with any preset. The difference is how aggressively the scheduler pushes you. Pick the preset that matches your workload, then only tune Custom if you have a clear goal.
