Flashka offers different types of flashcards to match the way you study.
Each type is generated automatically or can be written manually when creating your own deck.
You can mix them freely inside the same deck, or focus on one type depending on your learning goal.

1. Basics

The classic question and answer format.
Perfect for quick recall and understanding of concepts.
Example:
Front: What is the function of mitochondria?
Back: To produce energy through cellular respiration.

2. MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions)

Used for testing recognition and exam-style practice.
Each card includes one correct answer and several distractors generated from the context of your document.
Ideal for simulating real university tests or self-evaluation before exams.

3. Term & Definitions

Pairs of key terms and their meanings.
Best for memorising definitions, vocabulary, and short factual concepts.
Example:
Front: Homeostasis
Back: The process of maintaining a stable internal environment.

4. Cloze (Fill in the Blank)

Designed for active recall through partial omission of information.
Flashka hides one or more key words, and you must fill them in from memory.
Example:
Front: The capital of France is ___
Back: Paris

How to Choose the Type

When generating flashcards, open Generation Settings and use the Type of Cards dropdown to select one or more types.
You can combine several types at once (for example, Basics + MCQ) to create a more varied study experience.

Tip 💡

Different subjects benefit from different card types.

  • Use Basics and Term & Definitions for medical or scientific material.

  • Use MCQ for test preparation.

  • Use Cloze for languages or quick memorisation.

Experiment with mixing them to keep your study sessions engaging and efficient.
