Automatic detection and merging of duplicate flashcards
I would like to suggest a feature that could significantly improve the quality and efficiency of AI-generated flashcards: automatic detection and merging of duplicate or highly similar flashcards.
When generating flashcards from study materials such as slides, lecture notes, textbooks, or transcripts, it is common for the AI to create multiple flashcards that test the same underlying concept but are phrased differently.
For example, the AI might generate cards such as:
What is the function of mitochondria?
What is the role of mitochondria in the cell?
Which organelle produces ATP?
Although these questions are phrased differently, they essentially test the same concept. As a result, decks can become unnecessarily large and repetitive, which slows down the review process and reduces study efficiency.
It would be extremely helpful if Flashka could include an option such as “Detect and merge similar flashcards” or “Avoid concept duplication.” With this feature, the AI could analyze newly generated cards and:
Detect flashcards that test the same concept
Merge similar cards or remove redundant ones
Keep the clearest and most useful version of each card
This would provide several benefits:
Cleaner and more efficient decks
Less repetition during reviews
Less time spent manually deleting redundant cards
Higher-quality flashcards overall
This feature would be especially valuable when generating flashcards from multiple sources or large documents, where concept overlap is common.
By focusing on concept-level deduplication rather than sentence-level differences, Flashka could make AI-generated flashcards much more powerful and efficient for serious learners.
Thank you for considering this suggestion and for continuing to improve Flashka as a study tool.
